The Foreign Ministry says the Iraqi government has sent a letter of welcome to Seoul embracing South Korea's additional troop dispatch to the war-torn nation.

In the letter, the Iraqi Foreign Minister conveyed gratitude for the Korean troops in the multinational coalition force dispatched to support security and stability in Iraq.

Seoul sent the first contingent of 3,000 additional troops early this month to join some 600 Korean medics and engineers already operating in the Gulf state.
