Taiwanese historians are criticizing China's alleged attempts to distort the history of Goguryeo, calling the ancient kingdom a rightful part of early Korea.

A professor at National Taiwan University who compiled a high school history textbook introducing Goguryeo as early Korean history, recently reiterated that the ancient kingdom played a significant role in early Korean times.

In the local China Daily newspaper, another Taiwanese professor contributed an article entitled "Taiwan's Perspective on the Goguryeo Dispute", in which he also asserted the ancient kingdom was a part of early Korean history.

In his article, the writer characterized China's alleged historical claim to Goguryeo as "absurd."
