German Cultural Center Said Popular in Pyongyang

A pro-North Korean newspaper in Japan says a German cultural center in Pyongyang is very popular among North Koreans. .

The Chosun Sinbo said that a large number of scholars eager to learn advanced Western technologies and culture use the center.

The center was opened in June by the Goethe-Institut and boasts a total of 4,000 books on culture, society, history and politics published in Germany.

The facility is the first one opened in North Korea by the German institute, dedicated to promoting German language and culture worldwide.

The paper said representatives of the Goethe-Institut will visit Pyongyang in September to supply an additional 4,000 books and resource items.
