Chinese Media Silent on Seoul-Beijing Agreement on Goguryeo Dispute

Chinese media are keeping quiet about an agreement between Seoul and Beijing over the history dispute.

On Tuesday, the two countries reached a five-point "verbal understanding" in which Beijing promised not to attempt to claim sovereignty over the ancient Korean kingdom of Goguryeo.

The apparent silence by the Chinese media is prompting speculations of possible censorship by the Chinese government.

The only Chinese media outlet that reported on Tuesday's agreement was Hong Kong-based Wenhuibao, which reported the agreement in relative detail, including negative reactions from South Korean lawmakers.
