South Korea and Japan have vowed to push for a broad-based free trade agreement (FTA).

The agreement was reached Wednesday at the end of three-day talks on the adoption of an FTA in the southeastern city of Gyeongju. It was the fifth such meeting since the pact was first proposed last year.

During the most recent talks, the two sides exchanged views on details for trade, non-tariff measures, investment, procurement, dispute settlement and cooperation in other areas.

The next bilateral trade meeting is set to take place in Japan in early November.
