Typhoon Chaba Expected to Affect S.Korea from Sunday

Typhoon Chaba, accompanied by heavy rains and winds of up to 180 kilometers an hour, is expected to affect South Korea over the weekend.

South Korea's meteorological authorities said Saturday northeastern parts of the nation are expected to be see wet conditions on Sunday morning followed also by heavy rains for southern regions in the afternoon or evening.

On Monday, most parts of the country will see rain whlie strong winds are expected for the east coast and southern areas. Large waves are also expected to hit southern regions during the day.

Typhoon Chaba, currently located south of Japan is shifting north and forecast to reach the East Sea by early Tuesday morning.

The typhoon is the 16th tropical storm of the season and has been described as "very strong."

Chaba follows two deadly typhoons, Aere and Megi, that swept through northeastern Asia over the past two weeks.
