Efforts to reclaim South Korean gymnast Yang Tae-young's "stolen" Olympic gold medal are expected to continue for the time being.
On Sunday, South Korea's Olympic delegation filed an appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) to order international gymnastics officials to correct the results from the Olympic men's all-around event, and award the gold medal to the South Korean gymnast.
The C-A-S said it would consider the appeal in Lausanne, Switzerland, where the organization is based.
With the games having concluded over the weekend, officials were left with insufficient time to hear the case in Athens. The C-A-S delayed setting a date for the hearing so that the International Gymnastics Federation and the U.S. Olympic Committee could prepare responses.
However, officials in Seoul say there is no guarantee the case will even be heard. The sports arbitration body traditionally avoids reviewing "field of play" decisions. And even if the sports body decides to hear the case, the U.S. Olympic Committee has said it would work to fiercely protect Paul Hamm's "rights and his gold medal".
