A Korean exhibition booth will soon be installed in the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History in the United States.

The Seoul government is set to sign a contract in October in order to open a 99 square-meter booth in the museum by early 2007.

The Korean exhibition room will showcase some three thousand pieces of Korean apparel, folk craft and drawings, ornaments, ceramics, photos and artifacts which will provide a window into the society and history of Korea's past.

The government will subsidize a quarter of the project's five million dollar price tag over the next three years through the International Exchange Fund.

From 1994 to last year, South Korea has provided nine million dollars to fund the installment of Korean exhibition booths in 14 museums in six countries, including the British Museum, the Guimet Museum in Paris and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.

The Smithsonian, the world's largest museum complex, is located in Washington D.C.
