Following the enactment of a new policy on foreign workers' employment in South Korea, an initial batch of some 90 Filipino workers arrived in Seoul Tuesday.

After a three-day vocational training period, the Filipinos will start working from next week at three domestic companies located in Bucheon, west of Seoul.

The Labor Ministry plans to bring in as many as 25,000 foreign workers this year alone through the newly-adopted employment permit system for migrant workers, which took effect August 13th.

The new regulations allow South Korean employers who have difficulties hiring locals to legally hire an adequate number of foreign labor.
