Army Considering Reducing Two Corps

The Army says it is considering removing two corps as part of efforts to modernize the military.

The Defense Ministry said Thursday that the Office of the Joint Chiefs of Staff has instructed the Army to study the idea of a major military cut based on the judgement that a force structure centered on troop numbers would be too outdated to handle future security challenges.

The ministry added that working-level research is underway on the possibility and feasibility of cutting two Army corps.
