Trade Minister Yeo Han-koo has met with U.S. companies operating in South Korea and pledged to strengthen manufacturing partnerships in strategic sectors such as shipbuilding, automobiles, semiconductors, biopharmaceuticals, batteries and nuclear power.

Speaking at a meeting hosted by the American Chamber of Commerce in Korea in Seoul on Friday, Yeo shared the results of the recent South Korea-U.S. tariff negotiations, saying the deal eased export uncertainties and ensured competitive conditions on a par with other major economies.

He also announced plans to set up a “U.S. Help Desk” within the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency, or KOTRA, to address concerns over nontariff barriers raised by American firms.

Yeo urged U.S. firms to expand investment in emerging sectors such as artificial intelligence and data centers, saying the tariff agreement has significantly reduced external trade uncertainty.
