Written: 2004-09-05 00:00:00Updated: 0000-00-00 00:00:00

Computer networks at government offices and public organizations have been subjected to increasing cyber attacks this year originating from both home and abroad.
According to a report released Sunday by the National Intelligence Service, some 1,830 cases of cyber terrorism or hacking have been detected and countered at public offices in the January-July period. The figure is nearly two-times higher year-on-year.
Around 60 percent of this year's incidents used certain computer systems as conduits to attack other targets. Alteration of website contents, data leakage and deletion followed the list of the most frequent types of cyber attacks.
The report was submitted to a parliamentary study group, while the government is pushing to enact a law on cyber security.
