The average prices of gasoline and diesel both dropped amid a decline in international oil prices due largely to a rise in U.S. crude oil reserves.

According to the Korea National Oil Corporation's(KNOC) price information system Opinet on Saturday, the average price of gasoline fell one-point-seven won on-week to one-thousand-668-point-two won per liter, or one U.S. dollar and 20 cents, in the second week of August.

The average price of diesel also decreased ten won to one-thousand-538-point-two won per liter.

Dubai crude, which serves as the benchmark for Korean imports, fell two dollars on-week to 67 dollars and 90 cents.

An official at the KNOC expected the downtrend to accelerate next week.
