Yoido Full Gospel Church is weighing whether to resume construction of the Pyongyang Heart Hospital in North Korea, a project that has been suspended since 2010.

The church said Monday that senior pastor Lee Young-hoon met with Unification Minister Chung Dong-young on August 11 and agreed to cooperate on restarting the initiative.

It said the timeline will be determined through consultations between the South Korean government and North Korean authorities, though communication with the North remains stalled.

Construction began in 2007 but was halted three years later after the North sank the Cheonan warship and inter-Korean relations deteriorated, leaving the facility about 70 percent complete.

The hospital was originally planned as a seven-story, 280-bed medical center, with South Korean doctors to be dispatched to treat North Korean patients with heart disease.
