President Lee Jae Myung and Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba held summit talks in Tokyo on Saturday for nearly two hours and are believed to have focused on bilateral economic and security cooperation.

At the start of the extended summit, Lee said the international order is fluctuating amid security issues and Washington’s tariffs, emphasizing the need for the two sides to bolster cooperative relations as they share similar values, systems and ideologies.

Ishiba also stressed that developing stable Seoul-Tokyo ties would not only benefit both sides, but the entire region.

It was the two leaders’ second summit, the first having taken place in June on the margins of the Group of Seven meeting in Canada.
