South Korea's steel exports to the United States fell sharply in July, declining more than 25 percent year-on-year amid heightened U.S. tariffs.

According to data released Sunday by the Korea International Trade Association, steel shipments to the United States totaled 283 million dollars in July, down 25-point-nine percent from the same month last year.

This marks the steepest drop since January 2023 and the lowest export value in over four years, dating back to March 2021.

In terms of volume, exports fell 24-point-three percent on-year to 194-thousand tons, also the lowest level since January 2023.

The decline follows tariff hikes by the Trump administration, which imposed a 25 percent levy on imported steel and aluminum products in March and doubled it to 50 percent in June.
