Special counsel Cho Eun-suk’s team has requested a warrant to detain former Prime Minister Han Duck-soo over allegations that he abetted former President Yoon Suk Yeol in illegally declaring martial law.

Cho’s team, investigating the December 3 martial law case, said Sunday that it filed for the warrant around 5:40 p.m. 

The team said Han occupied the highest constitutional office with the power to prevent the unconstitutional and unlawful martial law situation before it occurred.

Han is also accused of ordering the drafting of a revised version of Yoon’s martial law decree to address legal flaws in the original. 

A court hearing to review the warrant request is expected to take place this week.
