The special counsel team investigating the December 3 martial law case has raided the justice ministry, the Supreme Prosecutors’ Office and other locations, targeting former Justice Minister Park Sung-jae and former top prosecutor Shim Woo-jung.

Special counsel Cho Eun-suk’s team said Monday in a press briefing that its prosecutors and investigators are searching Park’s residence, as well as the justice ministry, the Supreme Prosecutors’ Office and the Seoul Detention Center.

Cho’s team said Park and Shim are the targets of the raid.

Park is one of those accused of abetting former President Yoon Suk Yeol in illegally declaring martial law.

Park was one of six Cabinet members Yoon summoned on the day he declared martial law and informed of his plans in advance.

Shim is accused of abuse of authority in relation to the prosecution’s failure to appeal a court decision revoking Yoon’s detention in March.
