The special counsel investigating the December 3 martial law case has raided multiple locations tied to former Justice Minister Park Sung-jae and former Prosecutor General Shim Woo-jung.

Officials said searches were carried out Monday at Park’s home, the Ministry of Justice, the Supreme Prosecutors’ Office and the Seoul Detention Center.

It is the first time a former justice minister and a former prosecutor general have been simultaneously targeted in such an investigation.

Park is accused of abetting former President Yoon Suk Yeol’s unlawful martial law action as one of six Cabinet ministers first summoned that day, and of convening a ministry meeting to consider dispatching prosecutors to the joint investigation headquarters.

Shim is under investigation on abuse of power allegations for failing to appeal a court ruling in March that canceled Yoon’s detention.
