U.S. President Donald Trump has said there seems to be something like a “purge or revolution” going on in South Korea and that the U.S. can’t have such a thing and “do business there.”

Trump made the remarks in a post on his social media platform Truth Social, about two and a half hours before his summit with President Lee Jae Myung.

Signing a presidential executive order right before the summit, Trump also said he heard about recent raids on churches and a U.S. military base by the South Korean government.

Asked about his assertions by a reporter in front of Lee, Trump said he heard about the raids on churches and that if that is true, it’s regrettable.

Lee explained that the special counsels appointed by the National Assembly are conducting investigations and that they did not investigate the U.S. military base directly, but appear to have checked the South Korean unit’s control system within the base.

Trump then said he was sure it was a misunderstanding.
