A Seoul court has denied a special prosecutor’s request to detain former Prime Minister Han Duck-soo over his alleged involvement in former President Yoon Suk Yeol’s martial law bid.

The Seoul Central District Court made the decision after a warrant hearing Wednesday, saying there is room for factual and legal disputes in the case.

Han is suspected of aiding and abetting now-ousted President Yoon’s suspension of civil rights by arranging a Cabinet meeting in an effort to legitimize the decision.

The independent counsel team also accused Han of drafting a martial law declaration, as well as lying under oath at the Constitutional Court about the alleged document.
