President Lee Jae Myung said he will safeguard the country’s national interests, built on the warm trust established during his recent visits to the United States and Japan, and further expand cooperation with other neighboring countries.

Lee made the remarks on Friday in his opening remarks for a Cabinet meeting, saying that he had successfully completed his visits to the two nations thanks to the citizens’ support.

Lee also thanked business leaders and journalists who supported his visits in the spirit of “Team Korea,” emphasizing that people ultimately conduct diplomacy.

Lee emphasized the need for bipartisan support to sustain the outcomes of his visits, expressing hope for minimal disagreement on diplomatic matters or national interests.

The president added he plans to meet with leaders of both ruling and opposition parties soon to brief them on the results of his trips and discuss ways to cooperate.
