Total Lunar Eclipse Expected Sept. 8

A total lunar eclipse, during which the moon is completely covered by the Earth’s shadow, is expected to take place next week.

According to the Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute on Monday, a partial lunar eclipse is set to begin at 1:26 a.m. on September 8, followed by a total eclipse starting at 2:30 a.m.

The total eclipse is expected to peak out at 3:11 a.m. and end at 3:53 a.m., while the entire event will be over at 5:56 a.m.

The phenomena will likely be visible from Asia, Australia, the Indian Ocean, Africa and Europe.

The last lunar eclipse that could be observed from South Korea was on November 8, 2022, and the next one is expected to take place March 3, 2026.
