S. Korea Posts Current Account Surplus for 27th Straight Month in July

South Korea posted a current account surplus of ten-point-78 billion U.S. dollars in July, marking the 27th consecutive month of surplus, according to preliminary data from the Bank of Korea released Thursday.

The figure marks the largest surplus recorded for the month of July, while the surplus narrowed from the previous month’s 14-point-27 billion dollars.

The country has reported a current account surplus every month since May 2023.

The goods account also recorded a surplus of ten-point-27 billion dollars in July, the third largest for the month.

Exports increased two-point-three percent on-year to 59-point-78 billion dollars in July, while imports decreased zero-point-nine percent on-year to 49-point-five billion dollars.
