The LG Twins secured a spot in the KBO postseason on Monday, becoming the first team this year to guarantee fall baseball.

With a record of 78 wins, 47 losses and three draws (.624), even losing all 16 remaining games would not knock LG out of the top five.

This marks LG’s seventh consecutive postseason berth since 2019, tying the record for longest streak in the ten-team era, first set by Doosan’s seven-year Korean Series run from 2015 to 2021.

The overall league record belongs to Samsung, which made the playoffs for 12 straight years from 1997 to 2008.

LG, once mired in a decade-long drought between 2003 and 2012, has become a consistent contender and lifted the championship trophy in 2023 for the first time in 29 years.

Chasing another title, the Twins hold a five-game lead over second-place Hanwha with a magic number of 12 and are also on track to become the first team in 15 years to post winning records against all nine opponents.
