Ruling Democratic Party(DP) Chairman Jung Chung-rae has stressed that holding those accountable for the December 3 martial law is not political retaliation.

The DP chair made the remark Tuesday while addressing the National Assembly as the representative of the parliamentary negotiating group.

Jung said addressing historical injustices begins with a thorough investigation of the insurrection and bringing those responsible to justice, calling for the swift parliamentary passage of bills aimed at enhancing special counsel investigations against the Yoon Suk Yeol government.

Jung also demanded a sincere public apology from the main opposition People Power Party for the martial law incident, warning that its failure to sever ties with factions involved in the case could lead to its dissolution.

The ruling party leader also reiterated his commitment to prosecutorial, media, and judicial reforms.
