S. Korean Shares Reach Yearly High

South Korean stocks reached a yearly high Tuesday, with market gains from the tech, energy and chemical sectors.

The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index(KOSPI) rose 40-point-46 points, or one-point-26 percent, Tuesday to close at three-thousand-260-point-05.

The tech-heavy KOSDAQ gained six-point-22 points, or zero-point-76 percent, to close at 824-point-82.

Samsung Electronics gained two percent and chip giant SK hynix rose three-point-97 percent, while battery maker LG Energy Solution added one-point-02 percent and leading chemical firm LG Chem surged six-point-35 percent.

Top automaker Hyundai Motor rebounded slightly with a rise of zero-point-23 percent, while its affiliate Kia gained back zero-point-57 percent.
