Police are set to send a team of investigators to Japan to look into a series of terror threats against South Korea's major facilities by someone using a name that belongs to a Japanese lawyer.

According to the National Office of Investigation(NOI) under the national police on Tuesday, the team will visit Japan's National Police Agency between Wednesday and Friday to discuss ways to coordinate the investigation and actively handle the case.

Between August 2023 and last month, there were 51 terror threats by the person claiming to be the lawyer named Takahiro Karasawa made via email or fax, saying explosives had been planted at key South Korean facilities.

Since confirming that the email and fax threats were sent from overseas, the South Korean police have probed the case through communication with Interpol and relevant agencies in the U.S. and Japan, but have yet to specify any suspect.
