President Lee Jae Myung will launch a presidential committee on popular culture exchange this month as part of his pledge to build Korea into a “top five cultural power.”

Culture Minister Choi Hwi-young and Park Jin-young, producer and head of JYP Entertainment, have been tapped as co-chairs, with the presidency citing Park’s role in globalizing K-pop.

The committee will aim to expand international enjoyment of Korean culture while also broadening access to foreign cultural exchange.

The presidential office also named former lawmaker Kim Jin-ae, an MIT-trained architect, as head of the National Architecture Policy Committee.

Cho Seong-joo, head of the Korea Law Information Center, was appointed as senior presidential secretary for personnel affairs.

Lee urged new appointees to act as his “eyes and ears,” pushing bold and practical changes to unify the public and strengthen Korea’s cultural and economic future.
