The ruling Democratic Party said Tuesday it will accept opposition calls to revise parts of the three special counsel bills.

Floor leader Kim Byung-ki announced the decision after two rounds of talks with People Power Party negotiators.

PPP deputy floor leader Yoo Sang-beom said they objected to extending investigations with 80 days still remaining and to allowing prosecutors to direct cases after referral to the national police bureau.

He said the Democratic Party agreed to address most of those concerns.
In exchange, the PPP promised to cooperate on the planned establishment of a financial supervisory commission.

The revision marks a rare compromise in weeks of partisan wrangling over prosecutorial reform and investigative powers.
