Jo Sumi to Perform in Cairo to Celebrate 30th Anniv. of S. Korea-Egypt Ties

Soprano Jo Sumi, also known as Sumi Jo, is set to perform in Cairo to celebrate the 30th anniversary of diplomatic ties between South Korea and Egypt.

According to Seoul's culture ministry and the Korean Foundation for International Cultural Exchange on Thursday, Jo will perform with the Cairo Symphony Orchestra at the Cairo Opera House on Friday.

Jo, along with the orchestra and choir, will showcase major opera arias and Korean traditional songs.

A special exhibit titled, "HAM: What We Hold Together," displaying the two countries' diplomatic documents and archives, as well as gifts exchanged by the leaders from the two sides, will be held at the Museum of Islamic Art in Cairo through September 28.

The South Korean government will also participate in the Cairo International Art District, a modern art festival set to take place between October 10 and 30, as part of efforts to expand bilateral cultural exchanges.
