The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index(KOSPI) has surpassed the all-time closing high for the second day in a row, marking the eight consecutive market session that has seen a rise.

This comes on the back of expectations that President Lee Jae Myung may remove a controversial capital gains tax hike proposal and is led by gains in the tech and renewable energy sectors.

The KOSPI rose 29-point-67 points, or zero-point-90 percent, Thursday to close at three-thousand-344-point-20, topping Wednesday's record of three-thousand-314-point-53.

The tech-heavy KOSDAQ gained one-point-76 points, or zero-point-21 percent, to close at 834.76.
