North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has disclosed he will unveil a policy of concurrently pursuing nuclear and conventional weapons at the ruling Workers' Party's congress next year.
According to the North's state-run Korean Central News Agency(KCNA) on Saturday, Kim made the announcement while inspecting the armored defensive weapons institute and the electronic weapons institute under the Academy of Defence Science earlier in the week.
Kim was briefed on key technologies jointly developed by the armored defensive weapons institute and a tank design unit.
The regime leader was also informed about the development of special composite armor and an "intelligent active protection system."
Since deploying special operation troops to Russia in support of its military offensive in Ukraine, Kim has stressed on several occasions the need to modernize conventional arms and to reinforce actual training and combat capabilities.
