South Korea's information and communications technology (ICT) exports reached a record high for the month of August, according to the Ministry of Science and ICT.

The ministry reported Sunday that ICT shipments totaled 22-point-87 billion U.S. dollars last month, marking an eleven-point-one percent increase year-on-year and the highest export figure ever recorded for August.

Semiconductor exports led the surge, reaching 15-point-11 billion dollars, also a record for the month, driven by growing global demand for chips used in artificial intelligence, despite ongoing United States tariff policies.

ICT imports rose seven-point-six percent from a year earlier to 12-point-five billion dollars, resulting in a trade surplus of ten-point-34 billion dollars.
