Han Hak-ja, leader of the Unification Church, appeared before a special counsel team on Wednesday as part of an investigation into her organization's alleged bribery of former first lady Kim Keon-hee and People Power Party(PPP) Rep. Kweon Seong-dong.
The Unification Church leader arrived at special counsel Min Joong-ki’s office in central Seoul at 9:46 a.m. and entered the building with the assistance of an aide.
Han had failed to comply with three previous requests for questioning, telling reporters that she'd been in pain after undergoing surgery.
The suspect declined to answer questions from reporters about the bribery allegations.
Han is accused of handing 100 million won or around 72-thousand U.S. dollars to Rep. Kweon in exchange for his help securing former President Yoon Suk Yeol's support for her church.
She is also suspected of gifting the former first lady luxury goods in exchange for favors to the group.
