National Security Adviser Wi Sung-lac said there is no possibility that North Korean leader Kim Jong-un will attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation(APEC) summit in Gyeongju next month.

Wi made the statement Wednesday during a meeting with newspaper representatives at the Korea Press Center in response to a question about the likelihood of a face-to-face meeting between Kim and U.S. President Donald Trump.

The security chief said the chances of a meeting between the two leaders are not high.

Wi added that nothing had been confirmed regarding Trump's potential APEC attendance but that he does expect the U.S. president to visit South Korea.
