The Seoul Central District Court will allow the filming of former first lady Kim Keon Hee’s first court appearance on Wednesday.

The court announced Monday that video recording will be allowed only before proceedings begin and in predesignated areas. Once the presiding judge declares the end of the filming period, camera crews will be required to leave the courtroom.

Though preliminary hearings were not compulsory, Kim is required to attend Wednesday's appointment and will become the first former first lady to appear in court as a defendant.

Kim was indicted on August 29 on charges of receiving free polling data and intervening in candidate nominations during the 2022 presidential election, profiting from the Deutsche Motors stock manipulation scandal and accepting luxury gifts in exchange for favors to the Unification Church.
