People Power Party(PPP) floor leader Song Eon-seog on Monday accused President Lee Jae Myung of undermining national security after the president described freezing North Korea’s nuclear program as a “realistic interim measure.”

Song said Lee’s comment amounted to recognizing Pyongyang as a nuclear state and warned that it could erode South Korea’s security posture.

He accused the president of permitting the dismantling of the U.S.-Korea military alliance while acknowledging North Korea's possession of nuclear weapons.

Song called Lee’s view “reckless and irresponsible” considering it's coming from the commander-in-chief who must protect 50 million South Koreans and lead 450-thousand troops.

He pledged that the PPP would closely monitor what he described as the administration’s "irresponsible" defense and security policy
