The nation’s expressways will be toll-free for four days during the Chuseok holiday in October.

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced Tuesday that expressway toll fees will be waived from October 4-7, benefiting millions of drivers heading to their hometowns and other sites during the break.

Vehicles using the Hi-Pass electronic toll system will also not be charged when using Hi-Pass toll roads.

The ministry said the toll-free period is an attempt to help ease household burdens in honor of the Chuseok holiday and promote safe and convenient travel.
