The special counsel team investigating Yoon Suk Yeol's December 3 declaration of martial law has requested that the Seoul Central District Court allow the former president's upcoming trial to be filmed.

Special counsel Cho Eun-suk’s team filed the request with the Seoul Central District Court on Wednesday, two days ahead of Yoon's first hearing for new charges of abuse of authority and obstruction of the exercise of rights.

Yoon’s lawyers said Tuesday that Yoon will appear for the hearing set for 10:15 a.m. on Friday, a departure from his behavior related to his ongoing insurrection trial, during which he has skipped ten straight hearings citing his health.

The court will hold a bail hearing the same day, which Cho's team has also requested be opened for filming.
