President Lee Jae Myung met Polish President Karol Nawrocki on Wednesday and discussed cooperation in the defense and arms industries.

The discussions took place at the United Nations headquarters in New York on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.

Lee’s office stated that the two leaders recognized development in the two nations' relationship since their bilateral ties were established in 1989, including collaboration across politics, trade and people-to-people exchange.

Lee and Nawrocki also noted steady progress in bilateral cooperation in defense and arms and agreed to continue cooperating to achieve mutual benefits.

Lee expressed hope for closer collaboration on Poland's submarine acquisition program.

The two leaders also exchanged views on regional security issues, including those related to the Korean Peninsula and Ukraine.
