Naver, South Korea's leading online platform, will incorporate Dunamu, the operator of the country's largest digital asset exchange, Upbit, as a subsidiary.

Industry sources said Thursday that Naver plans to proceed with a comprehensive stock exchange to incorporate Dunamu through its fintech affiliate, Naver Financial.

An industry insider said each company will soon convene a board meeting to confirm the comprehensive exchange.

Industry insiders predict that the union of Naver Financial, the nation's leading online payment provider, and Dunamu, the operator of the world's fourth-largest digital asset exchange, will bring about a seismic shift in the domestic digital industry.

Naver, its fintech affiliate and Dunamu intend to jointly create an ecosystem for a won-backed stablecoin, make large-scale investments in startups across fintech and artificial intelligence and explore overseas expansion.
