Vice Labor Minister Kwon Chang-jun met with the chief safety officers of six delivery and logistics providers to discuss ways to mitigate exhaustion among delivery workers ahead of and during next month's Chuseok holiday.

Parcel volume about 13-point-five percent greater than the usual amount is expected during that period, which will likely last up to ten days.

The ministry suggested that the delivery and logistics firms take proactive and systematic steps to prevent overwork, such as appropriately managing working hours and breaks, bringing in additional personnel, offering medical checkups and providing rest areas.

The companies outlined preventive measures that they have taken, including caps on consecutive work hours, guaranteeing rest, dispatching additional personnel and adoption of automated guided carts(AGCs).

The ministry plans to conduct on-site monitoring of such enforcement before and after the holiday.
