North Korea’s foreign minister will visit China at the end of the month.

Guo Jiakun, a spokesperson for Beijing’s foreign ministry, told reporters in a briefing on Thursday that North Korean Foreign Minister Choe Son-hui will visit China from Saturday to Monday at the invitation of Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.

The North’s state-run Korean Central News Agency also announced that Choe will soon visit China.

Choe accompanied North Korean leader Kim Jong-un on his visit to Beijing earlier this month to attend a massive military parade marking the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II.

The upcoming trip will be Choe’s first solo visit to China since she assumed office in June 2022.

Choe and Wang are expected to discuss follow-up measures to agreements reached during the North Korea-China summit that took place on September 4 and coordinate responses to affairs on the Korean Peninsula and the surrounding region.
