The Ministry of Science and ICT has issued a “caution” level alert after a fire at the National Information Resources Service.

The ministry said it held an emergency meeting this morning to quickly respond to disruptions in major administrative systems under its jurisdiction.

Its website, internal networks, and services such as the Internet Post Office are also experiencing system failures.
The ministry said it has convened an emergency response headquarters and switched to 24-hour standby, adding it is working with the Interior  Ministry to minimize public inconvenience.

A fire broke out around 8:15 p.m. yesterday on the fifth floor of the NIRS building in Daejeon, suspending about 70 government services, including mobile ID cards and the online petition platform.

Websites of other government agencies, including the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and the National Fire Agency, have also been inaccessible.
