North Korea’s vice foreign minister held a series of meetings with top diplomats of Cuba and other nations considered friendly to the regime.

Cuban Minister of Foreign Affairs Bruno Rodríguez said on social media Sunday that he'd met with North Korean Vice Foreign Minister Kim Son-gyong in New York.

The Cuban diplomat posted a photo to X of himself shaking hands with Kim, writing that the parties, governments and people of the two sides shared a historic friendship and solidarity.

This high-level contact between Cuba and North Korea is reportedly the first since South Korea and Cuba established diplomatic relations last year.

Newspaper El 19 also reported that Kim had met separately with Denis Moncada Colindres, Nicaragua's minister of foreign affairs.

Kim is scheduled to deliver a speech on Monday at the United Nations General Assembly.
