More than 30 million South Koreans are expected to travel domestically and abroad during this year’s unusually long Chuseok holiday.

According to the Korea Transport Institute on Monday, a total of 32-point-18 million people are expected to travel for Chuseok-related trips and vacations between October 2 and 12. 

Traffic is expected to peak on October 6, the day of Chuseok, with nine-point-33 million people on the move. 

The survey indicates that four out of every ten Koreans plan to travel during the extended holiday, with most expecting to travel by car.

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport said on Monday that it will implement special traffic measures during the eleven days to ensure safe and convenient travel.
