President Lee Jae Myung on Monday visited the National Medical Center in Seoul, thanking emergency workers for their service during what he called “a medical crisis over the past two to three years.”

Lee said public trust in health care remains strong thanks to the dedication of frontline workers, though a shortage of public and essential services persists.

He noted that while problems like ambulance diversions have not been completely resolved, complaints appear to have eased in recent months.

Lee stressed the need to expand public and regional medical capacity, adding that Korea’s high level of health coverage is built on the sacrifice and commitment of doctors and nurses.

He also used the visit ahead of the Chuseok holiday to listen to workers' concerns and review their preparedness for the holiday period.
