The trial of former Prime Minister Han Duck-soo on charges of aiding and abetting insurrection began Tuesday and lasted just about an hour.

Han appeared in court, listed his occupation as unemployed, and declined a jury trial.

Asked about the December 3 martial law declaration, he replied that it was “difficult to accept” former President Yoon Suk Yeol's decision as one that could serve the nation's development.

The court allowed limited filming before the session and said footage of the full proceedings would be released online after sensitive information was redacted.

It added that CCTV footage from the presidential office that reportedly shows Han handling martial law-related documents would remain classified for security reasons.

Review of the CCTV footage, which the special counsel is working to declassify, was postponed to the next court date.
