Six days after a fire at the National Information Resources Service disrupted hundreds of government platforms, about 100 of the 647 affected systems have been restored.
The Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters announced that 99 systems, including 21 out of 36 heavily used grade one systems, are back up and running as of 10 a.m. Tuesday, bringing the total recovery rate to 15-point-three percent.
The headquarters explained that systems hosted on the data center's second to fourth floors, which were not directly affected by the fire, are linked to those on the fire-hit fifth floor, which has hindered recovery.
It added that it may consider leveraging data stored at the government's backup-dedicated Gongju facility to speed up the process.
The government has also set up a situation room, led by Vice Interior Minister Kim Min-Jae, at the National Information Resources Service to monitor restoration efforts.
